Save A Life, Adopt A Shelter Pet
CACC has a shelter operations division to scrub, feed and take care of the animals. Once we now have a great understanding of your residing scenario and the type of pet you’re interested in, we’ll make introductions and allow you to spend some quality time attending to know each other to see if there’s a love connection. It’s necessary that each one family members participate on this necessary decision so please make certain everyone is present (together with any resident dogs if you’re contemplating adding a new pooch to your pack). As a no-kill rescue, pets stay adoptable so long as necessary, and are by no means euthanized for space reasons.

Because animals are adopted daily the one you may be interested in, might or will not be available if you visit the shelter, so please maintain that in mind. This gallery is up to date each day to be able to maintain it present with new arrivals. CACC doesn’t accept owner surrendered pets from non-City of Chicago residents. If you live outdoors of the City of Chicago and are surrendering a pet, please contact your native animal control or humane society.
Animal Control Officers attend in-service coaching which supplies updates on laws, procedures, and methods. Animals that are impounded might be kept for 7 days, if not claimed during that holding interval, the animal could also be eligible for adoption. The impoundment charge is $20.00 for the first day of confinement and $5.00 for each day after. The Animal Control Division, supervised by the Operations Bureau Commander, is tasked with the enforcement of metropolis ordinances and state legal guidelines relating to the control and safety of animals. One full-time Animal Control Officer, one cross-skilled police officer and a part-time Shelter Aide operate and preserve the shelter in accordance with state legal guidelines.
